Sweep or wipe the top face clean when you clean the drive, because a solar light under a film of grit charges badly. They can be hosed down, which is the easy way to do it. If one sits in a puddle after rain, move it: IP65 covers jets, not standing water. Brush snow off rather than driving over it.

A driveway is the one place ordinary garden lights fail immediately, because sooner or later something drives over them. These are built the other way round: flush to the ground, in high-impact ABS, and tested to take three tonnes.

A single wheel of a normal van or 4x4 loads well under the three tonne test figure. Heavy plant is a different question.

Around a pool deck, yes. Not in the water, and not where they will sit submerged.
How many packs do I need for a driveway?
Measure the length in metres and divide by two, then divide by four to get the number of packs. A 16 metre drive lit both sides usually takes four packs.
Do they get hot?
No. LED output at this level produces very little heat.
Will frost damage them?
The ABS body handles frost. Cold reduces battery performance, so run times shorten in a hard winter, which is normal.
Can I hose them clean?
Yes. IP65 means a hose is fine, and it is the easiest way to clean the top face.
What happens if one stops working?
Check the top face is clean and that it is getting sun. If it still fails, contact us: a light that does not work is a faulty goods case under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
What colour is the light?
A white light. The maker does not state a colour temperature for this model, so we cannot quote one.
Can I replace the batteries?

Lighting a driveway without a trench
The usual options for lighting a drive are a floodlight on the house, which glares at
everyone including you, or a wired ground light system, which means lifting the surface.
Flush solar ground lights are the third option, and the reason they have got good enough

What three tonnes means in practice
A family car weighing 1.8 tonnes puts well under half a tonne through any one wheel. A
van, a trailer, a ride-on mower are all inside the same envelope. What is not is a
skip lorry or a delivery HGV, so if the drive takes commercial vehicles, plan a route
that misses the lights.
Where to put them
Along the edges rather than down the middle. Two rows define the width of a drive and
tell a driver where the gravel ends, which is the actual safety job. About 1.8m to 2.4m
apart is enough to read as a line without turning into a runway.
Steps are the other good use
An outdoor staircase is where these earn their money fastest. One at the edge of each
tread, and a flight that was a hazard on a wet night becomes obvious. The bidirectional
pattern helps here, because light going two ways along a step shows the nosing.
Keeping them working
The whole maintenance schedule is: keep the top face clean. Grit, leaf mulch and a
winter of road salt film all cut charging. Hose them when you clean the drive and they
will keep going. If one has stopped, clean it and give it a sunny day before concluding
anything.
