If it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, we put it right at no cost to you under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, return postage included.
Switch it off and let the bulb cool before you move the arm or clean it. Wipe the metal with a dry cloth. The rotary dimmer is a mechanical part, so turn it rather than forcing it, and if it starts to feel gritty do not oil it, replace the fitting. When you swing the arm, move it at the joint rather than pulling on the shade.

About this product
A swing arm sconce with a dimmer knob on the backplate, and the bulb in the box.
Plug it in or hard-wire it: the arm swings 180 degrees, the head tilts 270, and the rotary switch dims it from nothing to full.
A swing arm wall sconce with the dimmer built into the backplate, so you turn a knob on the light itself rather than reaching for a wall switch.
The arm swings 180 degrees left to right and the head tilts 270 degrees, so the light goes exactly where you want to read.
The bulb comes with it: a 6W dimmable LED at 2700K, giving 620 lumens, which is the equivalent of an old 60W bulb.
It has a 1.83 metre plug-in cord, so it works in a rented room with no rewiring. It can also be hardwired to a junction box if you prefer no visible cord.
Four adhesive cable clips are supplied for tidying the cord along the wall or the bed frame.
The useful thing about this sconce is not the swing arm, it is the knob. A rotary dimmer on the backplate means the light is adjusted where you are lying or sitting, not at the door. For a bedside light that is the whole argument.
The arm swings 180 degrees across the wall and the head tilts through 270 degrees. Together that covers reading in bed, lighting a chair in the corner, or pointing at a picture, from one fixed mounting point.
The bulb is included, which is unusual at this price and worth knowing: a 6W dimmable LED at 2700K putting out 620 lumens. It is matched to the dimmer, so there is no hunting for a bulb that will dim smoothly without flicker.
It arrives with a 1.83 metre plug-in cord and a UL listed plug, so it works in a rented flat with no wiring work at all. Four adhesive clips are supplied to run the cord neatly down the wall.
If you would rather not see a cord, it hardwires. Mount it on a junction box and connect to the reserved wires directly. All the mounting hardware is in the box either way.
The finish is a bronze lamp head with a black shade that is white on the inside. That inner white matters more than it sounds: a dark lining absorbs light, a white one reflects it back out, so the same bulb reads brighter.

Yes. A 6W dimmable LED at 2700K, 620 lumens, on an E26 base.
How bright is 620 lumens?
About the same as an old 60W incandescent bulb, which is a comfortable reading level beside a bed.
How does the dimming work?
There is a rotary knob on the backplate of the fitting. Turn it to switch on and to set the brightness anywhere from nothing to full.
Do I need a dimmer switch on the wall?
No. The dimmer is on the light itself, which is why it suits a bedside where the wall switch is by the door.
Can I plug it in?
Yes. It comes with a 1.83 metre cord and a plug, so no wiring work is needed.
Can I hardwire it instead?
Yes. Mount it on a junction box and connect to the reserved wires directly. All the hardware is in the box.
How far does the arm swing?
180 degrees left to right.
How far does the head tilt?
270 degrees up and down.
How long is the cord?
1.83 metres.
How do I hide the cord?
Four adhesive cable clips are supplied to run it neatly down the wall or along a bed frame.
What is the shade made of?
Metal, black outside and white inside. The white lining reflects light back out instead of absorbing it.
What colour is the fitting?
A bronze lamp head with a black shade.
Can I put a different bulb in it?
Yes, any E26 bulb that suits the fitting. If you want the dimmer to work smoothly, it must be a dimmable bulb.
Will a non-dimmable bulb work?
It will light, but it will not dim properly and it may flicker or buzz. Use the supplied bulb or another dimmable one.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. There is no IP rating, and a plug-in cord in a bathroom is a bad idea in any case.
Can I use it in a rented flat?
Yes. That is what the plug-in cord is for. Fixing the backplate needs two screws, or you can rest it on a shelf-mounted board if you cannot drill.
How high should it go beside a bed?
Around 1.2m to 1.5m from the floor, or roughly 50cm to 60cm above the mattress, so the shade sits just above shoulder height when you are sitting up.
Can two be used either side of a bed?
Yes, and that is the usual arrangement. Add the quantity you want before checkout.
Is it bright enough to read by?
Yes. 620 lumens with the head tilted onto a book is a comfortable reading light.
Does the arm hold its position?
Yes, it is a friction joint. Move it at the joint rather than pulling on the shade, and it stays where you put it.
What style is it?
Industrial and elegant is how the maker describes it. In practice, a plain metal swing arm that suits a period bedroom and a modern one.
Does the shade get hot?
Not with the supplied 6W LED. It would with a 60W incandescent, which is a reason to stay with LED.
Is the plug UK style?
The cord and socket are UL listed to the manufacturer's specification. Check the plug on arrival and use a UK adaptor or have an electrician fit a UK plug if needed.
Can I mount it on a wooden headboard?
Yes, if the board is solid enough to take the fixings and the cord can be routed safely. The adhesive clips help here.
How do I clean it?
Switch off and let the bulb cool, then wipe with a dry cloth. Do not oil the dimmer knob.
How long does delivery take?
5 to 7 days in the UK, after a 24 to 48 hour handling time.
How much is delivery?
Free on orders of £100 or more. At £49 one on its own is under the threshold, so express delivery would be £30. Two of them at £98 is still just under.
Can I change my mind after it arrives?
Yes. It is a stock item, so you have 14 days from delivery to cancel and a further 14 days to send it back.
What if the dimmer knob fails?
Contact us. A switch that fails is a faulty goods case under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and it is on us to put right.
How does it compare to the modern wall sconce?
That is a pair of fixed up-down LED bars with no dimming and no replaceable bulb. This is a single adjustable arm with its own dimmer and a bulb you can change.

The case for a swing arm beside a bed
A bedside table lamp takes up the surface you wanted for a book and a glass of water. A
wall sconce takes none, and a swing arm puts the light over the page rather than beside
it. That is the whole design brief, and this fitting answers it in the simplest way
available: an arm, a joint, a shade and a knob.
The knob is the feature
Almost every wall light in a bedroom is controlled from the door, which is the one place
you are not when you want it dimmer. A rotary dimmer on the backplate solves that
completely. Turn it on, turn it down, turn it off, all without getting up.
Plug in first, hardwire later
The 1.83 metre cord means you can put this up in an afternoon with two screws and no
electrician. If you later decide you want no visible cord, the same fitting hardwires to
a junction box. Buying a plug-in light does not commit you to a plug-in light forever,
which is a genuinely useful property in a rented flat.
About the bulb
It ships with a dimmable 6W LED at 2700K. Keep it. A bulb matched to a rotary dimmer is
the difference between smooth dimming and a light that flickers at the bottom of the
range. If you do replace it, buy a dimmable E26 LED and stay warm: 2700K is the colour
that reads as bedside, and anything cooler feels like a hotel corridor.
Every product page lists the measurement that decides it. Tell us the space you are working with and we will tell you straight whether this is the right thing for it. Free UK delivery on orders over £100.
